Actor/Writer/Director/Editor

Nate Smith is a filmmaker and actor in New York City.  Nate writes and directs comedy shorts for the sketch teams Rogue Elephant, The Coffee Shop, and for the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre's own comedy site, UCBcomedy.com. His sketches can be seen on ucbcomedy, funnyordie, youtube as well as his teams’ websites, coffeeshopcomedy.com and rogue-elephant.net.

Nate recently directed viral ad campaigns for the companies, Healing Threads and Next Generation Waters, and he hopes to produce more ads for companies you haven't heard of.

Notable acting credits include a lead role in the upcoming independent feature, Kingdom of Gravy, directed by Adam Reid; the Showtime series, This American Life; the online reality show, Project Improviser (he came in seventh); and a handful of national commercials.

Nate began studying and performing improv and sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in 2003. He has since been a part of dozens of shows on the UCB stage, most notably with the current UCB house improv team, The Fucking Kennedys, and the former house team, T.R.U.C.K.S.

Nate is a founding member of the independent improv and sketch

team, Rogue Elephant, which has performed at national comedy

festivals, colleges along the east coast, and regularly at venues

around New York City.  For the last four years, Rogue Elephant

has played to packed crowds at their own hit underground

comedy show at the Under St. Marks Theater in the East Village.

In addition to comedy, Nate has worked extensively in

documentary films as an editor and producer.  Nate’s

recent documentary credits include: Music From The Inside Out,

Imaginary Witness, and The Laughter Club.  Nate is currently

working on a feature documentary on The Freedom Writers

(the true-story basis for the Paramount feature film starring

Hilary Swank).
